Quarrymen - The companies team of quarrymen have over
100 years of experience in the Portland quarries. They all
have been trained by Albion Stone and have been
fundamentally involved in the changes that have taken
place within extraction processes. Many of them have seen
the progression from the derrick cranes and lifting the
stones using explosives and plugs and feathers to the introduction of the mobile wheeled loaders, the wire saws
and chain saws. It takes years to be able to 'read' the
quarry faces and thereby select the correct location for the
cut from the Chain Saw.
