The Belfast City Hall and Donegal Square project comprised the restoration and regeneration of the area surrounding the Historic Belfast City Hall . The brief was to pedestrianise the area and to improve the overall setting of the City Hall in aid of a peace visit by the then President of the United States, President Clinton.
The piers surrounding the City Hall reflect the elegance of the Building. Each pier cap was crafted from specially selected large single blocks of Portland Stone.
There are two different sizes of piers with the cores being reinforced with concrete and steel.
All the Portland Stone piers were manufactured by Albion Stone at our Portland Factory. The heads were produced on the planner and hand finished by skilled masons to exacting tolerances.
